The predecessor site, Ecumenical News, was originally focused on religious perspectives, even though they always included viewpoints from the traditions of many peoples and religions.

Gradually, however, it was recognized that the large issues of our time are too important to be decided or even categorized according to religious association and membership. Although the name "Ecumenical" continued to be used, the thrust was clearly an Interfaith one, based on a broad or "deep" understanding of ecumenical.

Recently, a decision was made to rename the site PeacePolitical News, with the further realization that in our dynamically changing (and very challenging) world social framework, political action is essential in order to facilitate any effective form of world peace and social justice.
